Ortwin Baier

Ortwin Baier (* 1958 ) is a German politician . From 2003 to 2019 he was mayor of the municipality of Blankenfelde-Mahlow and has been a member of the state parliament of Brandenburg since 2019 .

Life

Baier completed training as a law enforcement officer and worked for the Federal Police for eight years. After further training for the middle administrative service, he completed part-time studies from 1989 to 1991 at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences , which he graduated with a degree in administrative management (FH) . From 2000 he was the head of the office and from 2002 to 2003 the acting office director of the Blankenfelde-Mahlow office .

Baier was a member of the SPD from 1996 to 2014 and from 2016 to 2020 . From 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the city council of Garz / Rügen . In 2003 he was elected full-time mayor of the non-office community of Blankenfelde-Mahlow for the first time. In 2018 he renounced another candidacy for mayor, whereupon he left office after the local elections in 2019 .

In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2019 , Baier was directly elected to the state parliament of Brandenburg in constituency 25 (Teltow-Fläming III) for the SPD. He won the direct mandate with 24.8% of the first votes .

Due to dissatisfaction with the flight routes of Berlin Brandenburg Airport , he resigned from the party and from the parliamentary group in July 2020.

Ortwin Baier is married and has four children.
