Oskar Anwand

Oskar P. Wilhelm Anwand (born on July 16, 1872 in Breslau ; died on May 15, 1946 in Berlin ) was a German writer, primarily the author of biographical and historical novels, art critic and employee of Richard Bong Verlag in Berlin.

Life

Anwand was the son of the mill owner Albert Anwand and his wife Emma, ​​b. Lockpick. After attending grammar school in Breslau, he studied in Breslau , Munich and Leipzig . In 1897 he received his doctorate in Munich with a thesis on the poetry of Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz . In 1907 he married Clara Ostler. From 1907 to 1915 Anwand was chief editor of the German publishing house Bong & Co. in Berlin and editor of the illustrated monthly magazine Moderne Kunst .
