Oskar C. Posa
Oskar C. Posa (born January 16, 1873 in Vienna as Oskar Posamentir ; † March 13, 1951 ibid) was an Austrian composer and conductor .
biography
Oskar Posa - his father came from Bohemia, his mother was Viennese - first studied law, but then turned completely to music. He was particularly well received as a song composer of more than seventy songs and chants, including with an orchestra. Between 1911 and 1913 Posa performed as a concert and opera conductor in Graz. In his role as a founding member, secretary and chairman of the Association of Creating Tonkünstler in Vienna , he regularly met Arnold Schönberg , Alexander von Zemlinsky and Richard Strauss . The association was closely linked to the ideas of the Vienna Secession . Contrary to previous assumptions, the founding memorandum was not written by Arnold Schönberg, but by Posa. Posa received his doctorate in Vienna and became a professor at the State Academy. He died on March 13, 1951 at the age of 78.
