Oskar Höfling

Oskar Höfling (born November 17, 1906 in Essen ; † December 25, 1988 in Hamburg ) was a scientist , educator and author .

Life

Höfling graduated from the Krupp secondary school in Essen at Easter 1926 . He studied mathematics , physics and chemistry at the University of Bonn from 1926 and received his doctorate there on December 21, 1929 with a thesis on tripartite groups of conformal transformations of space with Hans Beck (1876–1942). In 1931 he passed the state examination for teachers. He taught natural sciences at schools in Bonn until 1950 and Hamburg . He is particularly prominent as the author of physics books for secondary levels I and II. In total, he wrote 32 textbooks independently and was involved in 20 other publications as a co-author.
