Oskar Herterich

Oskar Paul Herterich (born September 6, 1906 in Karlsruhe , † November 13, 1978 in Ulm ) was a German engineer .

Life

Herterich came as the son of the businessman Karl Herterich and his wife Bertha, b. Krenger, to the world. From 1928 to 1932 he studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe . He then worked as a designer at the Carl Metz fire fighting equipment factory in Karlsruhe . For half a year he returned to the TH Karlsruhe as a scientific assistant at the chair for lifting machines. In 1936 he took over the construction management of the fire brigade and municipal department as chief engineer at the Magirus plant in Ulm. In 1953 he became director of the plant. Under his leadership, trend-setting developments in the field of fire fighting equipment and municipal vehicles were developed.

From 1946 on, he was a leading employee in the fire fighting extinguishing standards committee in the German standards committee . Numerous fire brigade standard sheets were revised or created under his supervision.
