Oskar Nast , von Nast from 1905 , (born February 13, 1849 in Ludwigsburg ; † November 4, 1907 in Stuttgart-Cannstatt ) was the last city school and sole mayor of the city of Cannstatt until it was united with Stuttgart on April 1, 1905 .

life and work

Oskar Nast attended grammar school in Tübingen and then studied camera and criminal sciences there . From 1870 to 1871 he did a year of voluntary military service, during which time he took part in the Franco-German War . In 1870 he was seriously wounded near Champigny. After the end of his military service, he passed the 1st and 2nd higher administrative service exams and was then bailiff in Vaihingen, Schwäbisch Gmünd and Heilbronn. On January 5, 1881, “Amtmann Nast von Heilbronn” was elected City School of Cannstatt. He took office on February 16, 1881. On September 10, 1885, his name was changed to Lord Mayor of Cannstatt.

After several years of serious illness, he died in 1907. His monumental honorary grave is located directly at the main entrance to the Steigfriedhof in Bad Cannstatt.

From 1882 to 1895, Nast was a member of the Cannstatt district in the second chamber of the Württemberg state parliament . He was a member of the German party .

Honors

In the Hallschlag district of Cannstatt, Nastplatz is named after Oskar Nast.
