Oskar Wielgos
Oskar Wielgos (* 14. February 1916 in Bottrop , † 5. November 1986 in Gelsenkirchen-Buer ) was a German composer in chess .
Chess composition
Wielgos has composed more than 1000 chess problems and has received over 100 awards for them - including abroad. Between 1930 and 1939 he mainly published Zweizüger in various daily newspapers in the Ruhr area. From 1939 to 1960 he took a break for professional reasons, after which he published new chess problems in specialist magazines. He became particularly active after his retirement - most recently he worked as a funding advisor at the Gelsenkirchen employment office.

Tournament chess
Wielgos also reached an acceptable level in tournament chess. He was successful at the district and state level and took part in the candidates' tournament for the German Championship. He played on the top board of SV Buer 21.
