Oskar Zdralek

Oskar Franz Zdralek (born June 13, 1899 in Nicolai , † February 10, 1945 in Freiberg ) was a German engineer and university professor.

Life

Zdralek attended elementary school and the Progymnasium in his hometown. In June 1917 he passed the war matriculation examination in Katowice , then he served in the First World War , but left military service in December 1917 due to a heart defect.

After a practical year in a machine factory, he began studying electrical engineering at the TH Dresden in 1919 . In June 1923 he obtained his diploma. He then worked as a project engineer at Sachsenwerk Niedersedlitz until September 1924 , after which he went to the TH Dresden. After receiving his doctorate in 1926, Oskar Zdralek moved to the Bergakademie Freiberg . He worked there at the Institute for Electrical Engineering until September 30, 1931, and completed his habilitation in March 1930.

In October 1931 he returned to the TH Dresden. Until September 30, 1938 he worked there as an assistant, senior assistant and lecturer at the Institute for Heavy Current Technology. In November 1933 he signed the professors' commitment to Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist state at German universities and colleges . On October 1, 1938, Oskar Zdralek took over the substitute professorship for electrical engineering at the Bergakademie Freiberg, and on April 1, 1939 he was appointed full professor and director of the Institute for Electrical Engineering. He died on February 10, 1945 at the age of 45 in Freiberg. His grave is on the Donatsfriedhof in Freiberg .
