The Osterau is a source brook of the Broklandsau in the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein .

The stream has a length of approx. 7 km. The Osterau rises in the district forest Welmbüttel at the old ponds near the highest point Norderdithmarschens the "Rugebarg" with 72  m above sea level. NN . He crosses these no longer used ponds, crosses the B 203 and flows towards Tellingstedt . At the Nachtkoppelweg level, it turns west of the cemetery in the direction of Westerborstel and joins Rederstall with the Lindenerau to the north . The name Osterau is a frequently used naming convention (not only in Schleswig-Holstein) for a river or stream, as it arose from the local description of its location in relation to the settlement belonging to it.
