Wiener Neustadt bypass to the east

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wiener Neustadt bypass is a traffic project of the state of Lower Austria near Wiener Neustadt and Lichtenwörth .

description

The so-called east bypass B 17 is to close the road ring around Wiener Neustadt with the existing streets S 4 Mattersburger Schnellstraße , A 2 Süd Autobahn , B 21 Nordspange Wiener Neustadt and B 21b Spange B 60 Leitha Straße . The route begins at the B 17 near Obereggendorf in the north and leads in Lichtenwörth along from Wiener Neustadt to the S 6 near Neudörfl in the south.

The planned approx. 5 km long and 50 m wide route consumes valuable arable land and crosses a Natura 2000 protected area in the north by a meadow with wet meadows and a forest near the Warmer Fischa . The land consumption is assumed to be 20 ha.

Due to an appeal, there are still legal proceedings in autumn 2020 on the environmental impact assessment .

The project is run by Mayor Klaus Schneeberger and City Councilor Franz Dinhobl , both members of the Lower Austrian state parliament . They also expect traffic to calm down or the redesign of Grazer Strasse in Wiener Neustadt. After Auxiliary Bishop Franz Scharl of the Archdiocese of Vienna and former curate of the Church of the Redeemer in Wiener Neustadt spoke out against the eastern bypass, a new debate arose.
