Oswald Hilliger (II.)

Oswald Hilliger (* 1518 in Freiberg ; † 1546 Stettin ) was a German gun and bell caster from the Hilliger foundry dynasty based in Freiberg .

Life

Oswald Hilliger was the son of Martin Hilliger and after his death worked together with his brother Wolfgang Hilliger in the former father's workshop. After casting the Luther plaque for the castle church of Hartenfels Castle in 1545 together with Wolfgang, he became a gun foundry for Duke Philip I of Pomerania in Stettin . From then on, Wolfgang ran the foundry in Freiberg alone. Oswald died early in his new home town.
