Othius punctulatus is a beetle from the family of the short-winged (Staphylinidae).

features

The 10-14 mm long beetles are noticeably large. They have a black or black-brown basic color. The elytra , the antennae , the lower jaw palpation and the legs are colored red.

distribution

The distribution area of Othius punctulatus is in the western Palearctic . The beetle species is widespread in Europe. Their occurrence ranges from Scandinavia and the British Isles in the north to southern Europe and North Africa. The species is holomediterranean, that is, represented in the entire Mediterranean area.

Way of life

The eurytopic beetle species can be found all year round in forest areas under leaves. It is considered "not uncommon".
