Othmar Wickenheiser

Othmar Wickenheiser (born August 4, 1962 in Worms ) is a German automobile designer , university professor and author.

Life

Wickenheiser studied process engineering and mechanical engineering at the Clausthal-Zellerfeld University of Technology . He was a fellow of the Art Center College of Design USA with a focus on transportation design. His dissertation dealt with the research focus of automotive design .

After a short stay at Isuzu Motors in Japan in 1989, Wickenheiser initially worked for five years as an exterior designer at Audi in Ingolstadt before he was jointly responsible for the Design Culture department.

From 1991 to 1996 Wickenheiser held teaching positions at the Art University Linz , from 1993 to 1996 teaching positions in automotive design at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich . Since 1996 he has been Professor of Transportation Design at the Faculty of Design at the University of Munich.

He was elected by the Senate to the management committee of the Munich University of Applied Sciences, of which he was Vice President from October 2000 to April 2001.

Wickenheiser is an honorary professor at the Academy of Art and Design Bratislava . Since 1998 he has been a member of the German Design Council and the ICSID "Roster of Experts" (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) for Transportation Design.
