Ottmar Ballweg
Ottmar Ballweg (born March 11, 1928 in Hockenheim ; † September 17, 2019 ) was a German lawyer and philosopher .
After receiving his doctorate as Doctor Juris Utriusque in 1959 at the legal faculty in Basel , he completed his habilitation in 1968 in the subjects of legal philosophy and legal sociology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , where he was professor in these subjects from 1973 until his retirement in 1993 .
Ballweg was next to Theodor Viehweg the most important representative of the Mainz School , a branch of legal rhetoric .
