Otto Berner

August Otto Berner (born June 7, 1876 in Obertürkheim , † after 1935) was a German engineer and manager who was director of the Magdeburg Association for Steam Boiler Operation.

Life

He was the son of the Stuttgart court watchmaker Otto Berner and his wife Charlotte nee Gießer. After attending secondary school , he studied at the Technical University of Stuttgart , where he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD . At the Technical University of Stuttgart he then worked as an assistant at the material testing institute and researched, among other things, the generation and effects of heated steam. He later became director of a machine factory and, as chief engineer, headed the electrical department of the Magdeburg Association for Steam Boiler Operation, which was founded in 1857. In 1938 the name was changed to Technische Kontroll-Vereine e. V. (TÜV) , from which today's TÜV Nord arose.

In 1912 Otto Berner took part as a speaker at the delegates and engineers meeting of the International Association of Steam Boiler Monitoring Associations in Stuttgart.

After the outbreak of the First World War he was drafted for military service. He was promoted to captain of the Landwehr . After returning from the World War, by 1925 at the latest, he became director of the Magdeburg Association for Steam Boiler Operation, which was located in the Adelheidring 16 building. In addition, he was a board member of the Magdeburg district association of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) .

Otto Berner married Lina born on September 30, 1924 in Stuttgart. Rühle (* 1891), daughter of the driver Peter Rühle and his wife M. Hermann.
