Otto Delling (born February 27, 1884 in Kohren (today: Kohren-Sahlis ), Saxony , † October 3, 1968 in Berlin ) was a German painter .

After attending school, Otto Delling completed an apprenticeship as a painter in Leipzig from 1900 to 1903 . In 1903 and 1904 he was on study visits to Hungary and Bulgaria . 1905–1907 followed by studies at the art academy in Paris .

Delling lived as a painter in Berlin, mainly occupied with portraits and landscapes; but he also drew for newspapers and magazines, including caricatures. His related work can be found in “ Der Wahre Jacob ”, the “ Green Post ”, the “Berliner Illustrierte” and others. a.

He had exhibitions with Paul Cassirer and participated in the major art exhibition in Berlin. 1915–1918 he was a soldier in World War I and was seriously wounded in France.

After his return he maintained friendly contacts and a. to Käthe Kollwitz , Oskar Kokoschka , Conrad Felixmüller , Heinrich Zille and the artist group “ Die Brücke ”. During this time he restored the frescoes in Lübeck's St. Anne's Monastery and designed a 30 m long frieze - the Havel and Spree from the source to the mouth - for the Berlin Water Works Museum .

In 1943 it was bombed out in Berlin during the Second World War ; his life's work was almost completely destroyed. 1943–1945 he was drafted as a drawing teacher. In 1945 he returned to his place of birth Kohren-Sahlis and taught at times as a drawing teacher at the central school in neighboring Frohburg. One of his students was the later writer Guntram Vesper , who wrote about him in his book “Dunkelkammer. Five stories from Germany ”mentioned.

Otto Delling died on October 3, 1968 in Berlin.
