Otto Franklin

Otto Christian (von) Franklin (born January 27, 1830 in Berlin ; † June 5, 1905 in Tübingen ) was a German legal historian and university professor.

Otto Franklin was full professor of law at the University of Greifswald from 1863 to 1873 and professor of German law, constitutional law and legal history in Tübingen from 1873 to 1904. In 1872 he was elected rector in Greifswald and in 1886 in Tübingen.

He was married to Clara Anna Pauline Beck (1840–1923). His daughter Sofie (* 1866) was the mother of the physicist Winfried Otto Schumann (1888–1974).

Awards

1878 Otto Franklin was awarded the honor of Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown excellent, which with the personal title of nobility ( ennoblement was connected).
