Otto Gastell

Otto Albert Gastell (born August 14, 1855 in Mainz , † January 14, 1924 Mainz) was a Mainz entrepreneur, Hessian politician and former member of the 1st Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Life

Otto Gastell was the son of the car manufacturer Albert Gastell (1818-1883) from Mainz and his wife Maria née Fabis (1824-1900) from Alzey . Otto Gastell, who was a Catholic, married Katharina Theresia, born Probst (1864–1959) in Mainz on August 31, 1886, the daughter of Anton Probst (1804–1873) and Therese Probst, born in Metz (1804–1877).

Otto Gastell studied law at the University of Gießen and graduated there in 1877 with a doctorate in law. Jur. From. In 1877, together with his brothers Josef Gastell and Franz Gastell , he became a partner in their father's company Gebr. Association work and politics

Otto Gastell was a member from 1884 and president of the Mainz Chamber of Commerce from 1906 to 1907 . In addition, he was President of the Hessian Chamber of Commerce and as such in 1907 ao member of the Agriculture, Trade and Industry Department of the Hessian Ministry of the Interior in Darmstadt.

In the 33rd to 36th electoral term (1906–1918) Otto Gastell was a member of the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. He was appointed for life by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig on June 23, 1906 , and entered the first chamber with the oath on June 29, 1906.
