Otto Goertz

Otto Goertz (born May 27, 1872 in Rheydt ; †) was a German manufacturer.

Life

Otto Goertz studied law at the Universities of Freiburg, Berlin and Bonn. In 1895 he became a member of the Corps Palatia Bonn . After the legal traineeship in Cologne and the doctorate to Dr. jur. In Bonn he became the owner of the ceramics and porcelain factory Fa. Franz Anton Mehlem in Bonn. In 1920 he and Walter Guilleaume founded the company Guilleaume-Werk, grinding wheel factory as their partner in Beuel .

Goertz was president of the Bonn Chamber of Commerce and Industry , deputy chairman of the industry association for Bonn and the surrounding area, consul of the Republic of China and a commercial judge .

He took part in the First World War as a captain . Awarded the Iron Cross First Class and many other war medals, he was promoted to Major in the Reserve at the end of the war. In the 1930s Goertz lived in today's Villa Tempelstrasse 8 in Bonn.
