Otto Graeber (born January 25, 1926 in Stettin ) is a German politician ( SPD ). Among other things, he belonged to the Lower Saxony state parliament and was federal chairman of the senior citizens in the SPD.

Life

Graeber attended elementary school and business school . He then completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and did his military service in World War II . In 1948 he returned from British captivity. On his return he worked as a fitter in a clothing company. He attended the social academy in Dortmund from 1950. He later became managing director of the ÖTV trade union in Northeim . Between 1964 and 1976 he was the deputy state chairman of the ÖTV trade union in Hanover . In 1976 he became DGB chairman in Northeim.

He was a member of the administrative board of Kreis-Sparkasse Northeim and chairman of the representative assembly of the regional association of local health insurance funds in Lower Saxony. He was also chairman of the board of the general local health insurance fund in Einbeck -Northeim and chairman of the general meeting of the general local health insurance fund - computing center south.

Graeber became a member of the SPD in 1950. He held many offices in the party and was, for example, federal chairman of the AG 60 Plus in the SPD. In 2009 he was elected honorary board member for the life of the SPD sub-district Northeim-Einbeck and is honorary chairman of the SPD-AG 60 plus at federal level.

He is currently a member of the SPD Lower Saxony party council .

Public offices

Graeber was elected councilor of the city of Northeim between 1956 and 1964 . Since 1976 he has been councilor and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the city of Moringen. In 1986 he was elected mayor of the city of Moringen .

He became a member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament in the ninth to eleventh electoral term from June 21, 1978 to June 20, 1990. In his last term of office, he was elected Chairman of the Committee for Social and Health Services from July 10, 1986 to June 20, 1990.

Honors

He is the holder of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
