Otto Gruson

Otto Gruson (born December 17, 1863 in Stargard ; † January 3, 1929 in Magdeburg ) was a German industrialist and politician ( NLP , DVP ).

Gruson was a nephew of Hermann Gruson , the founder of the Gruson Works . He passed the Abitur exams at the Realgymnasium and studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Charlottenburg . He became the owner of the iron and steel works Otto Gruson & Co. in Magdeburg-Buckau , which was taken over by Buckau-Wolf after his death . In 1914 he was arrested on a study trip to German East Africa during the First World War and from 1916 to 1919 he was a British prisoner of war. Then he worked again in Magdeburg.

From 1905 he was a member of the Magdeburg Chamber of Commerce and from 1925 first deputy chairman. He was a board member of the Magdeburg School of Applied Arts and Crafts .

From January 1906 to March 1919 he was a city councilor in Magdeburg. From 1910 to November 1918 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . The provincial parliament of the province of Saxony elected him in May 1921 as a full member of the Prussian State Council . He belonged to this until his death.
