Otto Guem

Otto Guem (* 6. April 1899 in Brunico , † 6. May 1976 in Mauthausen ) was from Tyrol originating Austrian jurist and author .

Live and act

He was born as the son of the spouses Wendelin and Maria Guem, attended the Franciscan high school in Bozen and did military service in the 4th Tyrolean Kaiserjägerregiment during the First World War . In 1919 Guem began studying law at the Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck and obtained his doctorate in 1923. He then worked as a journalist, headed the “Pustertaler Bote” in Bruneck and, after the latter was banned by the fascist administration in 1927, joined the editorial team of the fascist party newspaper “ Alpenzeitung ”. He also worked in notary offices in Bruneck and Bozen until 1939 . In 1940, following the South Tyrolean option, he moved to Linz , worked as a public notary in Mauthausen and lived there from July 1, 1940.

He was a member of the Mühlviertel artists 'guild and from 1963 to 1968 president of this artists' association.
