Otto Johannsen
Otto Johannsen (born March 21, 1864 in Ptuj ; † March 20, 1954 in Reutlingen ) was a German engineer . Numerous new spinning processes , such as fiber length measurement or processing methods for textiles, were developed by Otto Johannsen. He founded the German Research Institute for the Textile Industry and the State Testing Office for Textiles.
Life
Otto Johannsen studied mechanical engineering in Graz . After working in a North German textile company, he became director of the State Technical Center for the Textile Industry in Reutlingen in 1891, where he taught for over four decades. In addition to this, Otto Johannsen was a lecturer at the Technical University of Stuttgart from 1894 . After the First World War , he took over the management of the German Research Institute for the Textile Industry in Reutlingen for more than 20 years.
In Reutlingen he was a member of the Glocke Freemason Lodge at the foot of the Alb and at times its master from the chair .
Honors
- 1912: Honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Stuttgart
- 1946: Honorary citizen of the city of Reutlingen
- 1948: Grashof commemorative coin of the Association of German Engineers
