Otto Keller (born February 13, 1939 ; † August 6, 2014 ) was a German soccer player who played 42 games with nine goals at VfL Bochum in the Oberliga West from 1959 to 1961 .

career

As an active member of the Bochum district club Märkischer BV Linden , right winger Otto Keller was nominated on April 15, 1959 by DFB coach Georg Gawliczek for the international match between the amateur football team in Enschede against Holland. In the 2-0 win - both goals scored by center forward Erwin Stein - he formed the right wing with Heinz Höher . For the round 1959/60 he was active from VfL Bochum in the Oberliga West. On the first day of the match, August 23, 1959, he made his debut in a 1-1 draw at Hamborn 07 in the VfL league team and he also gave Bochum a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute. The ex-amateur player completed 15 league games with three goals and Bochum ranked eleventh in the final table. When the winger was able to increase his personal record in the second year, 1960/61, to 27 games with six goals, that was not enough to secure the relegation for Bochum. The VfL rose from the league in 1961. In the second division , Keller and his teammates took third place in the 1961/62 round behind the two promoted players in the upper league, Bayer Leverkusen and Wuppertaler SV. The attacker had only completed ten league games under coach Hermann Lindemann , in which he scored two goals. The second year in the 2nd League West was completely unsatisfactory with coach Lindemann in 14th place. With 28 appearances and four goals, Keller was part of the regular VfL line-up just like Werner Jablonski (28-16), Egon Milder (23-2) and Walter Zastrau (29-0). For the 1963/64 round, Keller Rot-Weiß Oberhausen joined in the debut round of the second-rate Regionalliga West.

On the second day of the regional soccer league 1963/64 , RWO lost 5: 8 goals at Fortuna Düsseldorf , he ended the high-scoring game with his goal in the 87th minute to make it 5: 8. Keller played 22 league games for Oberhausen and ended up with his teammates Lothar Kobluhn and Hans Siemensmeyer in seventh place in the table at the end of the round. Under coach Willibald Hahn he came in the second regional league game year 1964/65 only to three missions. Keller played his last league game on August 23, 1964 in a 1-0 home win against Homberger SV on the right winger on the side of storm colleagues Albert Eichholz , Rolf Lendzian , Siemensmeyer and Franz Fliege .
