Otto Loerke

Otto Lörke (born November 16, 1879 , † 1957 ) was a German dressage rider and trainer.

Life

Otto Lörke was born in Prussia in 1879 . Due to his disposition, he found dressage riding without any great role models. As a Prussian Ulan , his way of riding and the horses he had trained were noticed for the first time. He was therefore appointed to the imperial stables and quickly became the emperor's saddle master . After the Second World War he built a dressage stable in Berlin. All eight horses of the General Quadrille of 1928 came from this stable. In 1935 he became a civilian dressage instructor at the Hanover Cavalry School .

Horses

Otto Lörke trained several well-known horses. These include Kronos, Dorffrieden v. Hyperion and Fanal v. House friend and chronicler.

Lörke successfully prepared the German riders for the 1936 Summer Olympics . They finished with six gold medals . Other students are Willi Schultheis , Liselott Linsenhoff and Fritz Linsenhoff .

The Otto Lörke Prize is named after Lörke .
