Otto Lauffer (1995)

The steam launch with the current name Otto Lauffer was built in 1928 in the Hamburg shipyard HC Stülcken Sohn . For 40 years, until 1968, she served as port police 6 for the Hamburg financial deputation on the Elbe.

From 1969 she functioned as the museum ship of the Museum of Hamburg History and was renamed Otto Lauffer after the founding director of the museum .

In 2004, the museum transferred the steamship to Museumshafen Oevelgönne eV after the steam boiler's operating license had expired in 2003.

On February 10, 2010 the Otto Lauffer was placed under monument protection by the Hamburg Monument Protection Office.

On November 17, 2015 it was announced that the city of Hamburg and the federal government wanted to provide a total of € 890,000 for the renovation after the ship had been on land in need of overhaul since 2006. The restoration of the ship was thus secured and began in spring 2016. After the work was completed, the Otto Lauffer returned to the Oevelgönne museum harbor in July 2017.
