Otto Leitner
Otto Leitner (* 1930 in Austria ) has been working as an architect since the 1950s .
Otto Leitner attended the Salzburg trade school with Wilhelm Holzbauer and Friedrich Kurrent (forerunner of today's HTBLuVA Salzburg ) and with them and Johannes Spalt the master class of Clemens Holzmeister at the Academy of Applied Arts Vienna . In 1950 the four founded " Working Group 4 " while still students , in order to jointly take part in architecture competitions under this name.
In the Salzburg “School of Seeing”, the summer academy under the direction of Oskar Kokoschka , the four made the acquaintance of the architect Konrad Wachsmann , who emigrated to the USA in 1941 and who had a considerable influence on the group with his innovative way of working. Poets, composers and filmmakers such as the Viennese group , Peter Kubelka , the music ensemble die series , who celebrated parties together, but also influenced each other in terms of content, were found in the group's environment .
In 1953 Otto retired Leitner from the group to alone in the competition for the Museum of the City of Vienna on Karlsplatz participate in which he no greater success than the competing project of the working group 4. As a result, Leitner will especially in West Germany have been active .
