Friedrich Kurrent
Friedrich Kurrent (born September 10, 1931 in Hintersee ) is an Austrian architect and author . He was a professor at the Technical University of Munich and is a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts .
Life
Friedrich Kurrent attended the Salzburg trade school and studied architecture with Clemens Holzmeister at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . Together with Wilhelm Holzbauer , Otto Leitner and Johannes Spalt , he founded Working Group 4 in 1950 . From 1973 to 1996, Kurrent was appointed full professor of the chair for design and interior design at the Technical University of Munich as the successor to Johannes Ludwig . In addition, from 1976 Kurrent taught the subject of sacred architecture at the Technical University of Munich as the successor to Professor Josef Wiedemann . In addition to teaching and his architectural work, he was committed to promoting architecture and building culture in public and, as a controversial spirit, was a founding member of the Austrian Society for Architecture in 1965 . He also worked for the Wittmann furniture workshops .
In 1958 he met his life man, the sculptor and ceramicist Maria Biljan-Bilger .

- 1998: Special award for “Exemplary building with glued laminated timber” as part of the “ Timber Construction Award 1998” of the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture (for the Blessed Church in Aschheim).
