The timber construction award is an award for architectural achievements in which wood is used to a large extent .

Austria

A timber construction prize is awarded every two years in some Austrian federal states . The respective jury usually has over 100 objects to choose from, which documents the great openness of the Austrian builders and planners towards the building material wood, which is traditionally used there. Award-winning objects are by no means just made of wood, but rather demonstrate how modern architecture combines wood with other materials such as glass , steel , aluminum , plastic , concrete and stone in order to achieve an outstanding overall aesthetic effect. All epochs serve as models, starting with the classic mountain farm to the Bauhaus style, up to the use of modern reinforced concrete and metal-glass architectures. Award-winning buildings include schools, residential buildings, industrial buildings, cultural buildings and authorities.

Germany

The Association of German Carpenters has been awarding a timber construction award every two years since 1999. New constructions of supporting structures as well as classic building projects implemented in wooden structures according to the latest possibilities and with unconventional designs are awarded. In addition, innovations are awarded that open up new perspectives for timber construction with new components and technologies.

There are also regional timber construction awards in Bavaria and, since 2009, for Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg .
