Otto Maria Polley

Otto Maria Polley (born May 30, 1910 in Feldkirchen in Carinthia ; † January 22, 1984 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian writer .

Polley came from a middle class family in Feldkirchen. After his studies (philology and art history), which he completed with a doctorate, he worked on numerous anthologies and magazines.

He became known through his books about Carinthia as well as through stories and novels. He also worked as a translator from Italian and Friuli . Some pieces from his collection of poems Morgengesang were set to music.

Polley was head of the cultural department of the Carinthian state government until 1970 and lived in Klagenfurt until his death .
