Otto Peuschel
Otto Peuschel (born December 15, 1867 in Crottendorf ; † May 29, 1932 there ) was a photographer, dialect poet and singer from the western Ore Mountains , who is particularly remembered for his song postcard publications from 1906 and 1907.
Life
Peuschel attended elementary school in Crottendorf and then became a carpenter and later a pattern maker for trimmings . In the last years of his life he worked in a button factory.
In his free time he created texts and tunes for several songs in the Ore Mountains dialect. He self-published some of it on song postcards. He was leader of the male choir of the Evangelical Methodist parish in Crottendorf and gave lessons in guitar and zither playing.
The district leadership of the NSDAP honored Otto Peuschel with a ceremony on December 23, 1934 at his grave.
Peuschel's song postcard series
Peuschel made himself known beyond the borders of his hometown Crottendorf through his song postcards . These were created from around 1905 and were provided with elaborate lithographs. Peuschel has immortalized himself in the picture on most of the cards. The series is numbered and thus probably comprises sixteen cards. The drawings on the cards are partly by Hans Unger (1872–1936), a Leipzig artist and graphic designer, and partly by Otto Peuschel himself.
