Otto Philipp Freiherr von Schrottenberg (* 1681 ; † 1738 ) from the noble family Schrottenberg was a soldier in the bishopric of Bamberg .

Life

Von Schrottenberg was the son of the Bamberg High Court Marshal Wolf Philipp von Schrottenberg (1640-1715) and his wife Sophia Juliana née Erthal (1654-1702). His older brother Philipp Dietrich von Schrottenberg (1675-1725) was senior bailiff in the office of Lichtenfels and knight captain of the knight canton of Steigerwald . He married Anna Katharina Sophia née von Heuslein von Eisenheim. The son Lothar Carl von Schrottenberg (1708–1759) emerged from the marriage.

Von Schrottenberg embarked on a military career and was given command of a cuirassier company under Bishop Lothar Franz von Schönborn for the Bamberg district troops and later was major general , commander and mayor of the city and fortress of Forchheim .

His brother Otto Philipp died childless in 1725 and bequeathed the parental family fideikommiss Reichmannsdorf with the castle and the towns of Untermelsendorf , Obermelsendorf and Eckersbach to his son Lothar Carl. He also inherited the office of senior bailiff in the Lichtenfels office. Since Lothar Carl was still a minor, Otto Philipp administered his property as a guardian and the senior office as an official administrator.
