Wolf Philipp von Schrottenberg (from 1709: Freiherr) (* 1640 ; † October 6, 1715 ) from the noble family Schrottenberg was a civil servant in the bishopric of Bamberg .

Life

Von Schrottenberg was the son of the imperial watchman Christoph Carl von Schrottenberg (* 1604 in Salurn in South Tyrol). In 1689 he acquired part of the Reichmannsdorf manor from the Truchseß von Pommersfelden family and in 1692 the other part from the Bamberg fief. From 1714 he had a castle built there. In 1684 he also acquired Untermelsendorf , 1687 Obermelsendorf and 1712 Eckersbach .

In 1670 he was appointed senior bailiff in the Lichtenfels office by the bishop . In 1672 he became chief chamberlain in the Bamberg monastery and in 1675 chief chamberlain in the Würzburg monastery. In 1683 the bishop appointed him Obermarschall Bamberg. 1709 the emperor gave the kurmainzischen Privy Council and fürstbischöflich bambergischen yard war council and top Hofmarschall Wolf Philipp Schrottenberg on Reichmannsdorf the realm baron .

In Bamberg he was the builder of the Schrottenberg Palace (Dominikanerstraße 10) and the garden house of the Schrottenberg Garden (Untere Sandstraße 19), which are under monument protection (see list of architectural monuments in Bamberg / Bürgerliche Bergstadt ). The Schrottenberggasse in Bamberg is named after him.

He was married to Sophia Juliana, born Erthal (1654–1702) , since 1674 . In 1703, his eldest son Philipp Dietrich von Schrottenberg (1675–1725) took over the position of senior bailiff in the Lichtenfels office. His son Otto Philipp von Schrottenberg (1681–1738) was the major general, commander and mayor of the city and fortress of Forchheim , who was in the service of Prince Bamberg .
