Heinrich Joachim Jaeck
Heinrich Joachim Jaeck , including Joachim Heinrich Jäck (born October 30, 1777 in Bamberg ; † January 26, 1847 ibid), was a German Cistercian , librarian , local historian and non-fiction author .
Life
Heinrich Joachim Jaeck studied in Bamberg theology and entered 1796 in the Cistercian Klosterlangheim a (religious name: Joachim). When this was dissolved in 1803 in the course of secularization , he found employment in the same year as a librarian of the then founded Electoral Library (from 1806: Royal) Library of Bamberg, today's Bamberg State Library . He worked tirelessly for the establishment, administration and enrichment of the library. He encouraged the utilization of their treasures through extensive journalistic activities, including inventories, and through intensive contact with researchers, which ensured the library a respectable position in the learned world.
He had a wide range of scientific interests and published in a wide variety of subject areas, for example in the areas of history, political science, literary history and regional and ethnology. According to his own information, he had published a total of 226 writings. The Bamberger Tagblatt was founded on his initiative in October 1834, and he was responsible for its editorial office in the first few weeks.
He died in Bamberg in 1847 at the age of 69 of complications from pneumonia.
