Life

Von Schrottenberg was the eldest son of the Bamberg High Court Marshal Wolf Philipp von Schrottenberg (1640-1715) and his wife Sophia Juliana née Erthal (1654-1702). His brother Otto Philipp von Schrottenberg (1681–1738) was the major general, commander and mayor of the city and fortress of Forchheim , who was in the service of the Prince of Bamberg . He married Eva Juliana Katharina nee von Sturiefeder. The marriage remained childless.

In 1703, while his father was still alive, he was given the post of senior bailiff in the Lichtenfels office , which his father had previously held. He was also knight captain of the knight canton of Steigerwald and director of the Frankish imperial knighthood . He was imperial councilor and Kurmainzer and Bamberg privy councilor .

From his father he inherited the family entourage Reichmannsdorf with the castle and the towns of Untermelsendorf , Obermelsendorf and Eckersbach . In 1707 he sold his parents' Palais Schrottenberg (Dominikanerstraße 10) in Bamberg and in 1710 bought the "Haus zum Rebstock" in Bamberg and from 1715 had the third Palais Schrottenberg (Obere Sandstraße 6) built in its place. Both objects are under monument protection (see list of architectural monuments in Bamberg / Bürgerliche Bergstadt ).

Since he died childless, his nephew Lothar Carl von Schrottenberg (1708–1759) inherited his property and the office of senior bailiff.
