Otto Prossinger
Otto Prossinger (born April 29, 1906 in Bihać , Bosnia and Herzegovina , † June 27, 1987 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian architect .
He graduated from the State Trade School in Salzburg and studied from 1927–1930 at the Peter Behrens Master School at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts . Since 1933 he was a freelance architect in Salzburg.
“ Prossinger is one of those Salzburg architects who wanted to use their intimate knowledge of the local building tradition and create a new, more objectified architecture for integration in the spirit of the Munich school . This also includes the variation and reinterpretation of old architectural elements ”( Friedrich Achleitner ).
Prossinger built the house of the painter Albert Birkle on Gersbergweg in Salzburg, he integrated the famous terrace of Cafe Tomaselli (1937/38) and redesigned the hotel “Goldener Hirsch” (1945/46) inside and out. In 1953/54 the parish church of Kufstein-Sparchen was built according to his plans . In 1964 he directed and designed the reconstruction and expansion of the university. He is buried in the Petersfriedhof Salzburg .
