The Vestolit ( brand name : Vest Recklinghausen + "-lit" traditional final syllable of IG Farben for polyvinyl chloride ) is a company of the chemical industry . In the Marl Chemical Park, it operates the largest fully integrated PVC production plants in Europe with a capacity of 400,000 t per year; fully integrated means that all intermediate products are manufactured in one plant.

The company is the market leader in the production of PVC window profile, as well as pastes -PVC for the production of floor coverings , tarpaulins and vehicle underbody protection .

According to its own information, VESTOLIT is (as of May 2015) Europe's only manufacturer of HIS-PVC (= High Impact Suspension PVC) for weather-resistant plastic windows and Europe's second largest manufacturer of paste PVC. VESTOLIT also produces chlor-alkali derivatives.

Company history

Vestolit was originally a subsidiary of Chemische Werke Hüls AG . These were founded in 1938 as a subsidiary of IG Farben (74%) and the mining company Hibernia AG (26%) for the production of synthetic rubber ( Buna ).

In 1949 PVC production started at the Marl location . She was supposed to put the plant on a new basis after the Buna production was banned by the British occupation .

As part of the changes to the product portfolio , the manufacture and marketing of PVC was spun off on January 1, 1995 into a wholly owned subsidiary, the independent VESTOLIT GmbH & Co. KG .

On December 1, 1999, VESTOLIT was sold by what is now Degussa-Hüls AG to a financial consortium led by Candover Investments (London).

Since 2006 VESTOLIT heard one of Strategic Value Partners managed funds involving the management of VESTOLIT.

On December 1, 2014 the company was taken over by Mexichem .
