Otto Rossow

Otto Franz Rossow (* 1868 in New York City , USA; † after 1927) was an American genre and portrait painter of German origin.

Life

Otto Franz Rossow was born in New York as the son of Otto Rossow (* 1835 in Germany) and Louisa Rossow (* 1849 in Germany). His parents left New York with him on May 26th, 1881. The mail steamship "Wieland", with which they left, had Hamburg as its destination. He enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich on April 28, 1890 at the age of 21 and was initially a student of Johann Caspar Herterich . In 1895 he was a student at the Dresden Art Academy . In the following years he lived in Dresden , was a member of the General German Art Cooperative / Dresden Art Cooperative and the Saxon Art Association .
