Otto Rust

Otto Rust (born April 24, 1871 in Duderstadt , † March 2, 1945 in Naumburg am Queis ) was a Catholic clergyman and archpriest . He is considered a martyr of the 20th century.

Life

After graduating from high school, Rust studied theology and philosophy . After his ordination on March 22, 1886, he was chaplain , later pastor of Lüben in the diocese of Breslau .

When the Red Army took what was then East Germany in 1945, Rust fell victim to the Red Army. He was shot together with other German priests and religious sisters in the shop in Naumburg am Queis.

The Catholic Church accepted Otto Rust as a witness of faith in the German martyrology of the 20th century .

Rust was a member of the Catholic student associations Aenania Munich , Saxonia Münster and Hercynia Freiburg in the CV .
