Otto Schäfer (politician, 1912)

Otto Schäfer (born March 26, 1912 in Berlin ; † February 14, 1973 in Buchholz in the Nordheide ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After finishing secondary school, Otto Schäfer joined the Reichswehr as a professional soldier . He was seriously wounded and as a result was put on alternative military service. He then worked at the Hirschberg military district command in the Giant Mountains . After the end of the war, Schäfer lived in Tostedt near Hamburg , where he worked in the public service from 1947 to 1955. From 1956 he worked as an insurance salesman. In the same year he became a council member in Tostedt and from 1956 to 1964 a member of the district council. He joined the CDU in 1960 and in 1967 took over the chairmanship of the CDU district association Harburg-Land. In addition, he became district administrator in the Harburg district in 1968. From April 15, 1971 to November 14, 1972 he was the first mayor of the Tostedt municipality .

From June 21, 1970 to February 14, 1973 Schäfer was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (7th electoral term).
