from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Otto Staudinger (born December 2, 1867 in Adorf im Vogtland , Kingdom of Saxony , † December 7, 1952 in Löbau , German Democratic Republic ) was a German teacher and historian . On April 30, 1948 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Löbau.

Life

Staudinger was a teacher at the royal training seminar in Löbau and was involved as a volunteer archivist and researcher on the history of the city. The historical researcher published the results of his research in various books, magazines and homeland papers. After the death of Julius Sandt († 1928) he took over the management of the Löbauer Stadtmuseum . He resigned this post due to the dictatorship of National Socialism at Easter 1943 and took it again when it reopened in October 1945. At that time he had to complain about the lack of a large number of exhibits that had been relocated in 1944 due to the events of the Second World War . He was in charge of the museum until March 1951, before handing it over to his successor on April 1.

For his work, Otto Staudinger was made an honorary citizen of the city of Löbau on April 30, 1948. He was the last dignitary to receive this award in the 20th century. In the Löbauer Neustadt a street was named after Staudinger.
