Otto Steffl

Otto Steffl (born November 3, 1934 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actor and reciter .

Steffl graduated from the Vienna Art School and qualified in the subjects of speech and drama. Steffl soon made a name for himself as an interpreter of Viennese coffeehouse literature and mainly declaimed Peter Altenberg , Egon Friedell , Alfred Polgar , Karl Kraus , Josef Weinheber and Alexander Roda Roda . Another focus of his repertoire are the classics of German literature, including in particular Heinrich Heine and Heine in his relationship with Richard Wagner . In his recitation evenings he also carries poetry and prose by Goethe , Schiller , Grillparzer , Erich Kästner and others. v. a. in front. He often works with musicians, including the pianist Fritz Brucker, the soprano Renate Holm or the rock ensemble clubcafe of his youngest son Alexander Steffl.

Steffl speaks most of his programs by heart .
