Otto Theel (* 1940 in Stettin , Pomerania ) is a German politician ( SED , PDS , Die Linke ) and engineer . From October 2004 to May 22, 2008 he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament .

Life and work

Otto Theel was born in Stettin in 1940. From 1959 to 1962 he studied steelworks technology at the engineering school for steel production in Hennigsdorf . He then worked until 1978 as an engineer for planning / operational development at VEB Stahl- und Walzwerk Brandenburg . During this time he graduated from the engineering school for automation technology in Leipzig from 1965 to 1969 with a degree in BMSR technology .

In 1978 he moved to the SED district leadership in Brandenburg (Havel) as an economic employee . From 1981 to 1984 he was department head for economics. In 1985 he became secretary for economics of the SED district leadership Neuruppin and 1989–1990 finally chairman of the council of the Neuruppin district . After the fall of the Wall , he worked as a managing director until 1993. From 1994 to 2004 he was mayor of the city of Neuruppin.

He is married and has two children.

Otto Theel became a member of the SED in 1968 . From 1990 to 1993 he was a member of the Neuruppin district council and from 1993 to 2004 a city ​​councilor in Neuruppin. In the 2004 state elections, he was directly elected as a member of the state parliament in the constituency of Ostprignitz-Ruppin I. He represented his group as a member of the Budget and Finance Committee and the Home Affairs Committee. At the end of May 22, 2008, he left parliament before the end of the electoral term. He resigned because he was sentenced to a nine-month suspended prison sentence on May 15, 2008 for taking advantage of his office as Mayor of Neuruppin. Andreas Trunschke took over for him .
