Regional fairs
Telecom trade fairs have been organized regularly in Asia, Africa and Latin America since 1985. The time gap was initially four years, with a regional fair in each of the three years between two world fairs. Since 2000 the frequency has been more irregular due to the acceleration of technological progress and organizational problems.
Since ITU Telecom World 2006 did not take place in Europe like the previous world fairs, a regional ITU Telecom Europe 2007 was planned in Sofia , but this was canceled due to lack of interest.
