Otto Woegerer

Otto Woegerer , also Wögerer (born February 4, 1908 in Vienna , † July 29, 1966 in Vienna ) was an Austrian actor.

Life

After attending elementary and middle school, Woegerer studied with Professor Armin Seydelmann at the Academy for Music and Performing Arts . In 1928 he graduated from the Deutsches Volkstheater and made his debut in 1929 at the Klagenfurt City Theater in Don Karlos .

In 1930 he moved to the Stadttheater St. Gallen , 1931 to the Landestheater Meiningen , 1932 to the Berlin Theater in Stresemannstraße , and in 1933 to the Odeon Théâtre in Paris. From 1934 to 1936 he was a member of the Agnes Straub Ensemble and made guest appearances with them in all major cities in Germany. From 1936 to 1944 he played under Heinz Hilpert at the Deutsches Theater Berlin . From 1944 to 1945 he was a soldier and in captivity,

Woegerer was engaged at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna from 1945 to 1948 . He then took on classical hero roles such as Othello and Macbeth at the Volkstheater as a supporter of the ensemble . He also worked in films and radio programs. Woegerer, who is buried in the Schwanenstadt cemetery in Upper Austria, was married to the opera singer Gerda Carlsen (actually Schulz).
