Otto Waterstradt

Otto Waterstradt (born December 10, 1888 in Demmin , † September 19, 1972 in Germersheim ; full name: Otto Friedrich Adolf Waldemar Waterstradt ) was a German mayor of the city of Grimmen and founder of the Museum of Antiquities in Grimmen.

Life

Otto Waterstradt was born the son of a master tailor in Demmin. He was married to Mathilde Waterstradt geb. Burgdorf. They had two children: Erika Waterstradt and Alfred Waterstradt.

He was mayor of Franzburg for four years before he was introduced to the office of mayor of Grimmen on March 15, 1928. In this function he asked on August 15, 1928 in a letter to the Pomeranian governor Ernst von Zitzewitz for approval of a grant from the provincial government for the establishment of an "antiquity museum of the district and the city of Grimmen". Waterstradt was chairman of the committee founded in February 1928 to set up a city museum. On September 15, 1929, the first parts of the museum were opened for viewing.

On April 12, 1934 Otto Waterstradt received the certificate of retirement. His successor in the office of mayor was Gustav Krakow ( NSDAP ) in September 1934 . Waterstradt then worked for an insurance company and later as a tax officer in Stettin . After the war he worked in Minden, Bielefeld and Düsseldorf and retired in 1953 as a senior government councilor.
