Company history

RMS Austria, short for "Radio Marketing Service Austria", was founded in March 1998 as a subsidiary of Radio Marketing Service Germany with the nationwide start of private radio stations in Austria . RMS is a marketing company that markets all commercial private radio stations in Austria under the “RMS TOP Kombi” brand. In addition, the company offers regional and target group-specific advertising portfolios. Since mid-2009, RMS Austria has expanded its offering to include web radio marketing. RMS Austria employs a total of 16 people.

Marketed channels

All commercial private radio stations in Austria have been marketed by RMS Austria since 2002. Since 2005 only one national radio license has been granted to KroneHit in Austria . All other private radio stations are regional or local radio stations.

Offer from RMS Austria

The main product of RMS Austria is the so-called "RMS TOP Kombi". It includes all private radio stations in Austria. In addition, the company also offers regional and target group-specific advertising portfolios (“partial combinations”).

The regional offers include regional and local private radio stations in the following federal states:

  • RMS Kombi Ost (Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland)
  • RMS Kombi Süd (Styria and Carinthia)
  • RMS Kombi Nord (Upper Austria and Salzburg)
  • RMS Kombi West (Tyrol and Vorarlberg)

There is also a target group-oriented offer called “RMS Winning Generation”, which tries to reach the target group of 30 to 59 year olds with particularly high purchasing power.

Web radio marketing

In addition to terrestrial VHF transmitters, RMS Austria has been marketing web radio offers in Austria, Europe and the USA since 2009.

The offer includes so-called simulcasts of the FM stations, pure online stations, personal radios, music on demand services as well as the marketing of the aggregation platform radio.at .

The advertising messages can be booked in the form of so-called pre-stream and instream audio ads or synchronized audio + display ads stationary on the computer and mobile on the smartphone.

The display using AdServer technology enables online features such as targeting, frequency capping and extensive reporting.

Reach and data collection

The radio usage behavior of Austrians aged 10 and older is the " Radio Test determined". The radio test is carried out by GfK Austria and evaluated by Ankordata. The radio test is commissioned as a joint project by ORF and private radio stations. The most important data from the radio test - daily reach and market shares - are published every six months, on a 12-month basis.

The private radio stations from the RMS network therefore reach a total of 2.2 million listeners a day. In the advertising-relevant target group of 14 to 49 year olds, the RMS TOP Kombi achieves a daily reach of around 37% with a market share of 36%.

marketing

RMS is carrying out various actions to strengthen the radio industry.

  • The annual Radio Research Day is a trade fair in which opinion and market researchers, advertising agencies, media planners and radio companies take part.
  • The "RMS Radio Award" has been presented annually since 2006 for the best radio advertising spots, which are determined through a survey.
  • In cooperation with ORF-Enterprise , the Creativ Club Austria and the recording studio Marx Tonkombinat , an annual competition calls for the creation of advertising for the radio medium. The radio spots awarded by a jury are broadcast on all private radio stations as well as on Ö3 and FM4 .
  • Finally, RMS conducts studies on advertising effectiveness.
