Antenne Salzburg is a private radio broadcaster in the state of Salzburg . The radio station has been on air since October 17th, 1995 (at that time as Radio Melody) and is the second oldest private radio in Austria after " Antenne Steiermark " .

history

After lengthy negotiations since the 1980s, (limited) private radio broadcasting was also permitted in Austria in 1995. In addition to Antenne Steiermark, “Radio Melody” (predecessor of Antenne Salzburg) started on October 17, 1995 as Austria's second private radio.

From the beginning, the station had a large audience. After the relaunch of Ö3 and Radio Salzburg of ORF in 1997-1999 both transmitters brought back to solid.

After "Radio Melody" was sold to the British radio group GWR in 1998, the station was renamed "Melody FM" in 1998 and "Antenne Salzburg" in April 2000. In 2003 the station was sold again, this time to the "Fritz Fellner Privatstiftung", behind which the two Salzburg media brothers Wolfgang and Helmuth Fellner (founders of "News", "Woman", "Format", "TV Media", "e- media "," Rennbahn Express "and most recently" Austria "). In 2007, Antenne Salzburg merged with the sister stations "Antenne Tirol" and "Antenne Wien" in "Antenne Österreich".

Antenna Salzburg's former main frequency 101.8  MHz was on the Untersberg transmitter until 2005 . At the beginning of 2006, this main frequency was relocated to Salzburg's local mountain, the 1287 m high Gaisberg . Reception possibilities

Since October 26, 2019, the station can only be received in the city of Salzburg and the Flachgau in parts of Tennengau , Pongau and the Berchtesgadener Land . The earlier frequencies went to Radio Austria .
