Otto Weigel
Otto Weigel (born March 11, 1890 in Theißen , † March 24, 1945 in Leipzig ) was a German painter and graphic artist .
Life
Weigel was born in Theißen in 1890 as the son of a railroad worker. From 1911 he studied drawing with Peter von Halm at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich (matriculation number 5031). He then worked as a teacher at the Gaudig School (formerly the Second Higher Girls' School) in Leipzig, from 1929 to 1931 he taught there at the Thomas School . He also worked as an illustrator and freelance artist in Leipzig.
Book illustrations
- The Käthchen von Heilbronn or the ordeal by fire . A great historical knight play by Heinrich von Kleist . Performed at the Theater an der Wien on March 17, 18 and 19, 1810. The initials and the final vignette were etched by Otto Weigel. Hübel & Denck, Leipzig 1922.
