Otto Weiglein

Otto Weiglein (born April 5, 1912 in Geesdorf , today Wiesentheid ; † September 23, 1998 ibid) was a member of the Bavarian state parliament between 1946 and 1950 .

Live and act

Otto Weiglein was born on April 5, 1912 in Geesdorf, Lower Franconia . He attended the agricultural school and later took over his parents' farm. At the same time Weiglein was involved in the Catholic youth movement . In addition to his work, he made several training courses and specialized in pest control, especially in fruit growing. In 1952, Otto Weiglein therefore also became chairman of the district association for fruit and horticulture in Lower Franconia. He held the office until 1982.

During the time of National Socialism , Weiglein was taken into protective custody in 1934 because of his political and religious views . During the Second World War , the farmer became a medical sergeant. After the end of the war, Weiglein quickly rose to the position of mayor of Geesdorf as he was considered unencumbered by National Socialist ideology. In 1945 the population elected him mayor, at the same time Weiglein became a member of the district council for the CSU.

In addition to his political commitment, he also held several honorary positions. Otto Weiglein was a member of the supervisory board of the Überlandwerk Lülsfeld , a member of the Würzburg St. Brunowerk and an advisory board of the Ebrach correctional facility. On December 1, 1946, Weiglein was elected member of the state parliament for the constituency of Lower Franconia. He became a member of the committee for submissions and complaints, from 1949 he was part of the committee for food and agriculture. In 1950 Weiglein left the state parliament, and in 1982 he was made an honorary citizen of the Wiesentheid community.
